About the workshop
Mix it Up!
Taking the best qualities of each medium, the vibrancy, mark making, fluidity and combining them together, can be both freeing and fun. Using water media such as acrylic or watercolour in conjunction with a variety of dry mediums, pastel, pencil, charcoal, markers and crayons, one can find a new path to creating art. We will focus on design, marking and colour.
Course Outline
Day 1: An in-depth look at colour working with a complimentary colour scheme with a Zorn twist. Using this palette we will develop a series of small abstracted works.
Day 2: All about mark making. Developing the use of drawing materials and focusing on expressive rather than descriptive line.
Day 3: Finding shape and value patterns in your work, and developing a system to interpret your subject matter.
Day 4: Layering and the use of opaque/transparent passages in your painting. Exploring different tools for creating surface texture and marks with the addition of applying collage. Critique session and clarification of learned processes.
