About the workshop

This workshop is a 4-day exploration in creativity using expressive brush strokes to create interest and movement. We will do some landscape work and finish up with creative brushwork when painting darker animals, primarily a black bear.  We will use unexpected colour both to create interest, and to creatively challenge the viewer to see things through the artist’s eye.

Get ready to be challenged to loosen up! We will work from shared photos as well as your own to create your original works of art.

 Artist statement

I prefer the angles and assertions of larger brushes, using brushstrokes to break the image while asking the viewer to address the idea of a slice of reality, engaging the imagination.

Things are always in motion in my work. The suggestion of water is pervasive as I ultimately drift back to its woven reflective qualities. This speaks of the fragility of a moment, something that cannot be duplicated. I want to capture that magical something that you can feel and connect to.
