About the workshop

In this workshop we will focus on how to use the elements of composition. We will experiment with how to create a more dynamic and expressive painting by manipulating placement, movement, edges, colour and value. We will start with an experimental exercise and then apply what we learn to a final painting.

Come with a playful attitude and enjoy the process.

About the instructor

Greta Guzek grew up in south Africa and moved to Vancouver in 1980, working as a designer and illustrator. Since 1990 Greta has lived and worked as a painter from her studio on the Sunshine Coast, BC. Greta has a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Greta’s work embraces and captures the spirit of the West Coast which has become a vehicle for her artistic expression. “Through familiar sketches of life, I create a bond with the viewers, which allows me to converse with them on an aesthetic level.” 

Greta paints to express her involvement with the subject. She simplifies and distorts forms, enhances the expressive value of colour and creates a rhythm that animates the scene.
