Improve your artistic abilities by enrolling in one of eight summer workshops for painters at the Gibsons School of the Arts on the scenic Sunshine Coast in British Columbia, Canada.

Eight summer workshops are planned for 2024. Each is 4 days in length and all run from Monday to Thursday (except one 5-day workshop which is Monday-Friday). The new venue for the 2024 season will be the Gibsons Curling Club, located in upper Gibsons.

Instructors are drawn from the international art community. They are successful,  professional artists. Many are well-known, with established reputations; all have demonstrated a high level of artistic talent and the ability to teach techniques and principles of painting.

Classes are small (14 maximum) and held in a comfortable setting with lots of individual attention. Artists of all skill levels  will find classes which will educate, challenge and inspire them. Typically, about 50% of our students are local (from the Sunshine Coast), with the balance coming from other parts of BC, Canada and the US, and as far away as Singapore.

Gibsons, a small community on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, is located 45 minutes from Vancouver, B.C. via a scenic ferry ride. The Sunshine Coast is made up of peaceful rural areas and small communities rich in visual artists, galleries, musicians, and summer festival events. The Coast also provides excellent hiking and an abundance of outdoor activities. Partners who wish to accompany students to enjoy a holiday locally will find many activities to entertain them.

The Gibsons School of the Arts is a not-for-profit organization made up of dedicated volunteers who present a series of high quality art workshops each summer. This is the 26th year of workshops, which have been presented since 1998.
